TIPS
  1. Standard inkjet printers have four ink tanks, while photo inkjet printers have an additional two tanks which make it better for printing images.
  2. To cut costs on equipment purchases, a multifunction inkjet printer is a handy alternative, especially if you have a small office.
  3. Get a printer that supports wireless networking if you need to use it alongside many computers.
  4. Consider portable inkjet printers if you work outside most of the time and need a mobile printing solution.
  • Epson WorkForce WF-3640 Wireless Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer WF3640

Pros: High-quality output, Great paper handling, Fast print speed
    Cons: Pricey ink refills

Review: The Epson WorkForce WF-3640 All-in-One printer is in the same league as larger multifunction printers. It is outfitted with Epson’s PrecisionCore printing technology which sees to it that users will be well-satisfied with the stunning detail and high-quality output. The ink dries immediately, producing prints that are resistant to water, smudge and fading. The same could be said for the WF-3640’s fax, copier and scanner. The quality of the scans and copies are both excellent, and the fax function could come in handy. It also has a 35-sheet automatic document feeder and a handful of web connected features which include the ability to scan to email or any cloud services. The WF-3640 works perfectly for quick and all around printing, with ISO print speeds of 19 ppm black and 10 ppm color. Eco-friendly, it uses up to 70% less power compared to most laser printers and features duplex printing which helps with cutting down paper costs. The WF-3640 utilizes small 4-color DURABrite Ultra pigment ink cartridges which can be costly to replace though. Users can expect flexible connectivity, through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. You no longer need to connect cables or free up USB ports just to print from your tablet, smartphones or computer. It gives you total freedom from wires and allows you to print directly anytime, anywhere. Paper handling is great too, as it has dual front trays that can hold an entire ream of paper or up to 500 sheets, as well as a single-sheet rear feeder that accommodates specialty paper like labels and envelopes. Installation is trouble-free. The user guide is very detailed and can be downloaded through Epson’s website. No USB cable and bloat ware are included, and firmware updates can be done wirelessly. An SD card slot and a USB port can also be found on the front panel. Operating the Epson WorkForce WF-3640 using the bright 3.5" color touchscreen may require multiple presses but you should experience no problems once you get used to it.

Pros: Good print quality, Quiet operation, Easy to install, Inexpensive
Cons: Slow, Poor documentation, Small ink cartridges

Review: The HP Envy 5660 e-All-in-One Printer provides a convenient way to better appreciate photos taken from your smartphones or tablet, or print documents wirelessly. Marketed as a home or home-office printer, it boasts good print quality and does all the main functions such as scanning, copying and printing up to 14 ppm black and up to 9 ppm color. Moreover, it is capable of two-sided printing and also features scan to email through the printer control app or scan to file via software. It supports various formats including PDF, BMP, PNG, TIF and JPG. Though the written instructions are not very clear, the printer is incredibly easy to install. The menus are pretty basic too, and the 2.65-inch or 6.75 cm touch screen makes it easier to navigate, edit photos or enter text. The HP Envy 5660 e-All-in-One Printer has a minimalist design with only one button in front for power and the familiar HP logo on top. The main input tray is capable of holding up to 125 sheets while the output tray has a 25-sheet capacity. A dedicated 15-sheet photo tray enables you to print 4 x 6-inch photos from your Apple, Android or other mobile devices right away. Weighing only 15.04 lbs., the printer is easy to carry or transfer from room to room, should the need arise. No USB cable is included in the package but it already comes with a power cord, an HP 62 Black Ink Cartridge, an HP 62 Tri-color Ink Cartridge, a software CD and setup instructions. Given the size of the ink cartridges though, it might not last very long. Purchasing extra cartridges for continuous printing or considering high-yield ink cartridges if your business requires heavy printing seems like a good idea. In addition to the HP Printer Software, the CD also contains HP Photo Creations, Shop for Supplies Online and HP Update for easy manual updates. Overall, if speed isn’t a necessity, the HP Envy 5660 e-All-in-One Printer is worth looking into.
