Pros: Powerful, Spacious, Easy to use and clean, Auto-touch control, Professional-looking and convenient drawer design
Cons: Few controls, No turntable
Review: Aesthetically pleasing and easy to install, the Sharp KB-6524P and KB-6525P series are a great start if you want to modernize your kitchen. Of course, in addition to great cooking performance, design is also one of the key elements when choosing a kitchen appliance. Sharp takes it a step further with this 1000-watt built-in microwave. Its drawer design is very space-saving and it is so powerful that you can cook without the wait. Boasting a large 1.2 cu. ft. capacity, you can fit a 9" x 13" dish and tall mugs up to 20 oz. or 7" in size while the overall dimensions remain the same as other 24-inch microwaves at 23 7/8" x 15 13/32" x 26 3/16" and most 30-inch microwaves at 30" x 15 13/32" x 26 3/16". Aside from the standard white exterior, both models are likewise available in black and stainless steel. The digital LCD display stays readable at a distance and the front-mounted touch controls are laid out nicely and ready to be accessed anytime. However, it does have a few minor inconveniences like the lack of a turntable and push-button controls for heating frequently-served foods. It also requires a few presses before it can start heating your food or beverage. A melt, soften, warm and defrost function as well as a beverage center for heating coffee, tea or hot water and sensor popcorn, cook and reheat are present though, along with 11 power levels. The Sharp KB-6524P and KB-6525P can keep your food warm up to 30 minutes and you can safely monitor cooking progress through the window. Minute Plus also allows you to quickly add a minute to your current cooking session. Basically, there are two ways to open or close the microwave: by simply pushing or pulling the microwave drawer handle or by pressing the Auto touch control which automatically opens or closes the drawer. Needless to say, the latter makes it more convenient and easy to operate and at the same time, innovative and professional-looking. Having identical features, with size being the only difference, all you have to think about is whether a 24-inch microwave is all you need or if a 30-inch is better for your purposes.
Pros: All-in-one microwave, Nice features, Roomy, Effortless operation
Cons: Turntable should be constantly checked, Heavy and large, Exterior gets hot
Review: Sharp goes a step beyond the traditional microwave ovens by offering a multi-function microwave that can be used in lieu of an actual broiler, grill or oven. The R930AK trumps the standard ovens with better usability, not to mention, great value. As opposed to models that have a learning curve, operating this one is a no-brainer, especially with its 7-Digit, 2-Color Interactive Display, Smart & Easy Sensor, Reheat Sensor, total of 8 Sensor Cook settings and host of newfangled features like CompuDefrost, CompuBroil, CompuRoast and CompuBake. These features resemble a computer and enable a nearly effortless operation since it automatically compute cooking times and select the right power levels, making sure that your food comes out at its crispiest, softest or most delicious state. For manual operation, 11 Variable Power Levels are provided. Microwave popcorn has always been a staple in most homes, which is why, this particular model allows you to enjoy that too. The 1.5 cu. ft. R930AK features 2 Stainless Steel Racks and a large 15-3/8" Carousel turntable that can hold large casseroles. Remember to check the turntable though before cooking anything as it is not properly aligned with the rails sometimes. The color choices give wide options, being available in black, stainless steel and white. Corresponding model numbers for the last two are R-930CS and R-930AW. The size of this microwave is undoubtedly large, at 24-5/8" W x 14-7/8" H x 19" D, and it is heavy too when compared to normal microwaves, but those are to be expected and are a non-issue for most people considering that it offers a lot of room and gives it a sturdier feel. Built-in kits are also available, making it more space-saving than it already is. One word of caution, be sure to provide some space for ventilation as the microwave's exterior can get really hot. Still, instead of buying 2-3 kitchen appliances separately, the Sharp R930AK is a smarter alternative. It is designed for food enthusiasts who are in constant search for the right kitchen appliance and can be a big help to those who'd like to take their cooking skills to new heights.
