The Epson Artisan 50 is a fairly priced printer that can produce crisp, fade-resistant photos and print on printable CDs/DVDs at the same time. It utilizes 6-color Claria Hi-Definition dye ink which greatly extends the life of your prints. The 6 individual ink cartridges also enable you to control your ink usage by allowing you to replace only a single color and not the entire ink cartridge. The ink cartridges are a little on the pricey side but it ensure longer lasting and stunning images. Whether you want to print on glossy, semi-glossy or matte paper, you can throw all your worries away as this photo printer does its job well, regardless of the paper type. It can accommodate up to 8.5" x 44" plain paper and various borderless sizes including 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10" and 8.5" x 11". It also features Manual 2-sided printing and Auto Photo Correction with red-eye removal. The input tray has a 120-sheet plain paper capacity and it can also hold up to 20 sheets of Premium Photo Paper Glossy. With ISO print speeds of 4.8 ppm black, 5 ppm color and 11 seconds for 4" x 6" Borderless Photo, speed is relatively faster than other photo printers in the same price range. Setting up the Epson Artisan 50 is a cinch to do. However, it doesn't come with a USB cable so you need to purchase one separately as it is required for installation. As for compatibility, there should be no issues because it supports major operating systems including Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows XP x64, Windows 2000 and Mac OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.11, 10.5.x and 10.6.x. Print quality is average and good for normal or basic tasks, but may not be sufficient for printing photos. Speed, however, makes up for it. With ISO Print Speeds of 15.0 ppm black and 7.2 ppm color, it is, in fact, considered as one of the world's fastest all-in-one. Wireless printing is also a key feature of the WorkForce 545. No need to be confined to your desk while waiting for those pages to print. You can print from anywhere in your home using almost any mobile device including smartphones and tablets via Epson's iPrint app. Apple's AirPrint and Google's Cloud Print are likewise supported. You can also go wired by purchasing a USB cable. There's a 250-sheet paper tray and a 30-page Auto Document Feeder. We would have liked it more if the paper tray is not made of plastic material and if the ADF has a larger capacity, though. While it is not recommended for large businesses and certainly doesn't compare to $600 multifunction printers, the inclusion of a complete and useful set of features makes the HP Officejet Pro 8600 great for a small office setting or for home use. It gives you all the benefits of a printer, copier, scanner and fax on a single machine and it does its job quite admirably. Being network-capable, it can easily be accessed and used by anyone in your workgroup. There's no built-in duplex feature but you can get hold of this function via the supplied automatic two-sided printing accessory. Printing speed is not the fastest at only 18 ppm black and 13 ppm color. As for copy speed, a maximum of up to 32 cpm can be expected. The CopySmart feature produces high-quality copies. Maximum scanning resolution is 4800 dpi while maximum document size is 8.5 x 11.7 in when using the flatbed scanner and 8.5 x 14 in through the ADF. Although users tend to use the fax part of the machine a little less than the other functions, it can be handy for occasional purposes. Transmission speed is rated at 4 sec per page. Designed for light to moderate use, the input tray can only hold up to 250 sheets. That's not even half of the capacity of other all-in ones and it is also not expandable.
