Pros: Good build and sound quality, Lightweight, Low price
Cons: No AC adapter included
Review: Discover your inner musician and limitless potential using the Yamaha YPT-230. It is perfect when used as a springboard for learning how to play and it gives you a totally different perspective, so that you can finally be inspired. A Portable Grand Button generates true piano sound, when pressed, and the Yamaha Education Suite Version 6 was really helpful for step-by-step learning and not kind of gimmicky like the others. For the quality-obsessed, the YPT-230 would not disappoint, remaining compact while boasting great build quality, much like any Yamaha keyboard. It doesn't lack weight nor does it seem cheap. Its 61 keys, although not touch-sensitive, are just right for players of varying ages and abilities. 385 high-quality instrument voices, 100 accompaniment styles, 371 XGlite + 13 Drum/SFX/SE Kits, 102 built-in songs and a good amount of digital effects are integrated into the keyboard, and its USB-MIDI interface allows you to expand your selection and download more. The two 12cm speakers also produce exceptionally clear and balanced sound, expected from Yamaha. This portable keyboard runs on 6 AA batteries. We recommend buying batteries in bulk so that you won't get caught empty-handed at times when you need to practice or perform. You can also plug it in, making it suitable for continuous operation or home-use. Don't forget to grab an AC adapter on your way to the counter as no power adapter or cables are included in the package. The AC adapter can be bought at a low price though, as well as the keyboard itself. An Auto Power off Mode enables you to not be wasteful by saving energy and prolonging battery life at the same time. Lastly, the Yamaha YPT-230, at only 4.5kg, gives music lovers and aspiring musicians the sound quality and portability they need at a lesser price than most portable keyboards.
Pros: Excellent emulation of Grand Piano sound, 497 voices and 106 accompaniments, Built-in lessons, Can connect to computers and save up to five tracks in memory
Cons: Does not come with power adapter or stand, Other sheet music must be downloaded, Some of the voices lack realism
Review: Learning to play a musical instrument is a fun and rewarding experience. It helps you develop patience and discipline, and can be a great way to stimulate your creativity. With the help of proper equipment like the Yamaha YPT-330 Personal Keyboard, even the newest beginners can quickly pick up the basics and gain musical skills. But first, the important stuff. The YPT-330 has 61 keys with a unique touch response feature, which means that similar to a real piano, pressing down harder on the YPT-330's keys will result in a louder sound, allowing students to fine-tune their finger pressure by way of familiarity. Although the Yamaha YPT-330 replicates the sound of a traditional piano excellently, it can be enhanced further with a touch of the dedicated Portable Grand button, which turns the sound into a very realistic simulation of the rich sound of a Grand Piano, while the Ultra Wide Stereo Technology of this Yamaha keyboard produces a wider and more dynamic sound field. All electronic keyboards offer some sort of additional voices, styles and digital sound effects, and the Yamaha YPT-330 is no exception. A total of 497 high quality voices and 106 accompaniments including dual-voice presets are pre-built into it, as are 102 songs. The Yamaha YPT-330, as mentioned, is a beginner-friendly electronic keyboard. It eases the learning curve with its improved Yamaha Education Suite and "Keys to Success" lesson functions. On the other hand, experienced players and composers will love the ability to connect the YPT330 to a computer as well as to save up to five tracks in memory. The Yamaha YPT-330 Personal Keyboard is perfect if you want to take up the hobby of playing the keyboards. It's disappointing to know though that this is only a basic package that does not come with either a power adapter or a stand. The sheet music included with the package is also limited to one of the songs, with the rest having to be downloaded. Finally, the YPT-330 does recreate the sound of a grand piano faithfully, but its rendition of other instruments may not be that convincing to some people.
