Pros: Bright images, Rich color, Slim and compact design, Generous product warranty
Cons: Could use better speakers
Review: Projectors can be used for different purposes, some of which include making presentations, giving lectures and watching high-quality movies at home. The functionality of the ViewSonic PJD5123 combined with a handful of superb features and compact, slim design make it a compelling and better choice than most conventional projectors. Its height of 3.2 inches and weight of 5.7 pounds take the worry out of traveling and the two placement options provide better visual comfort. The integrated BrilliantColor technology delivers brighter images with life-like color and the DLP 3D technology gives the projector 3D capability. With the use of DLP Link compatible glasses, you can enjoy your movies and be bewildered by the astounding image quality and excellent rendition of fast action scenes. It even supports up to 120Hz frame rates. This projector is also one of the most cost-effective models to date. There are no filters to replace and it has an Eco Mode that allows the unit to consume less power than usual and at the same time, save up to 50% of lamp life. The best thing is that it does it all without the need to sacrifice image quality and brightness. Automatic Keystone Correction offers undistorted images and 2,700 ANSI lumens along with 3000:1 Contrast Ratio make sure that you can view your presentations and movies in bright, rich color. Embedded with a wide array of connection options and a 1W speaker, you can easily hook-up your PC or Mac and you won't have to buy external speakers. However, it is recommended to get a great pair for better sound quality. The ViewSonic PJD5123 comes with a remote control which lets you control the unit from the couch or from a distance. The company was also generous enough to provide users with a free 1st year Express Exchange service, a 3-year warranty on parts and labor and 1-year warranty on lamp.

Pros: High definition 720p output, Brilliant colors, Automatic keystone correction
Cons: Minor calibration might be needed, Only includes basic RCA cable
Review: For people looking to turn their high-definition setup into the ultimate home theater system, a brilliant output of 2500 lumens for color and 2500 of white light gives the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 705HD top ranks in digital projection options and makes it a recommended choice. It throws a crystal-clear picture at 720p from as far as 29 feet away from the screen. The 200-watt E-TORL bulb is rated to last over 5000 hours on the projector's Eco mode (4000 on normal mode), and can easily be replaced once it burns out. An automatic digital keystone correction immediately adapts and corrects images to prevent distortion even if the projector is skewed up to a 30-degree angle. A set of ports provide maximum connectivity and allow it to be used with a host of different equipment with HDMI connectors, Type A and B USB ports, Component Video and Digital S-video forming an array at the back of the unit. While this LCD projector has speakers, it is still recommended to use separate speakers for audio output. A remote controller makes it easy to change settings, especially when the projector is mounted to a ceiling. Usage-wise, the Epson PowerLite is above par for digital projection equipment. Colors are as bright as when viewed from an actual digital screen, especially when connected via HDMI. On the other hand, black levels may vary depending on the source of the projection. Minor calibration can correct this, though. USB playback is best for still images rather than video because of some lag issues, so it is better to insert the USB key to a computer and let it handle the decoding. Finally, it only comes with an RCA cable (the old red, white and yellow ones) so be sure to get specialty cables along with the unit.
