TIPS
  1. Computer components require constant cooling to prevent heat damage, so a good computer case should have adequate airflow through it.
  2. In addition to a construction that is very cooling friendly, some computer cases also include a set of fans to help circulate cool air and eliminate warm air.
  3. If you own, or are planning to build a computer with multiple graphics cards, make sure that your components fit inside the case without blocking airflow.
  4. Most computer cases also offer tool-less installation of components like hard drives and optical drives.

Pros: Silent, High powered, Robust and reliable, Modular design
Cons: Rear end mesh is a little prone to dust entry

Silence, power and flexibility are the core ideas behind Cooler Master's Silent Pro M line of power supply units. The product line, which has 1000, 850, 700 and 600-watt models, all embody those ideas which result in a quality product that meets the demands of today's high-powered computer setups. At heart, it is a single-rail PSU driving up to 40 amps plus 120 additional watts on the 12-volt rail, powerful enough for even the drain done by multi-GPU setups running alongside a high-end processor and high memory. It runs at 85% efficiency under load and 82% while idle - a very efficient rating. The Silent Pro M does exactly what is said in its name. The unit operates with very little to no audible output. Even fitted with a 135mm fan which when placed on other products would have a noticeable hum, this model barely registers at the hearing threshold at a rating of 19dbA. This is aided by the silicon rubber pads that absorb the vibration coming from the fan without transferring it to the chassis. Also, high quality heatsinks and thermal radiation fins made of copper and aluminum regulate the temperature and prolong the PSU's lifespan. The modular design of the unit, as well as its cables, a combination of flat modular and rounded, allow for greater airflow and cable management. Some of the cables are separated from the main PSU except for the mainboard power and CPU power lines, so users can hook up only as much cable as they need without sacrificing the reliability of the PSU. The cables supplied with the unit are compatible with most recent devices and even a few older ones. Inside the product are high-quality Japanese capacitors for longer life while under stress. The rear part of the Cooler Master Silent Pro M, where the main power line goes, is made of steel mesh for higher heat transfer, but with the fan blowing inside, it might be a little prone to dust so it is a good idea to clean it with a vacuum once in a while, especially if it is placed in areas that are particularly dusty.

Pros: Lots of room, Solid construction, Good layout, Comes with a power supply
Cons: Doesn't support hot swapping, Deeper and larger than most cases, No air filters, Smaller fan mounts, Only one fan is included

No matter what type of system you are planning to build, the Antec Titan 650 gives you all the space you need to install your drives, cards and a great motherboard. While it has a few shortcomings and is not capable of hot swapping, it is integrated with plenty of features that make up for what it lacks. To begin with, it makes installing your system's components a cinch to do with its removable front bezel. There are convenient front I/O ports consist of two USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 port (FireWire, i.Link) and Audio ports. In addition to the case, you also get a TruePower Trio 650W power supply with an amazing 5 year warranty. With regards to its cooling abilities, only one TriCool rear fan is included. The 92mm front fan mounts are also smaller compared to the 120mm front fan mounts in other cases. The front air vent enables good airflow throughout the unit but it doesn't have air filters which prevent dust from entering your system. This particular case is compatible with a wide range of motherboards including Mini-ITX, microATX, Standard ATX and Extended ATX. It has a total of 7 Expansion Slots and 10 Drive Bays (four 5.25" External and six 3.5" Internal Drive Bays). Some may consider the price too high but when you think about all the room as well as the protection you get with the 1.0mm cold rolled steel construction of the Antec Titan 650, it makes it a tough deal to pass up. Truth is, if size and depth weren't a factor, you can never go wrong with this one.

Pros: Quiet, Solid build quality, Three-layer construction, Better cooling capabilities
Cons: Top HD cage needs to be removed to fit large video cards, USB3 cables must be reroute to the back of the case, No power supply included

As with any other case in the Antec Performance One Series, the P183 is solidly built and nearly silent. The three-layer construction (aluminum, plastic, aluminum) of the front door and side panels combined with the Dual chamber design ensures a more silent environment while the 0.8mm cold rolled steel exterior makes the case rock solid. The Double hinged door can be opened for up to 270º for easy access to your components and there are front panel ports which include audio jacks, two USB 2.0 and one eSATA port. In addition, it has 11 drive bays (Internal 6 x 3.5" for HDD and External 4 x 5.25"; 1 x 3.5") and 7 expansion slots. One standard 120mm x 25mm TriCool fan can be found at the top and another at the rear. You can also mount an optional 120mm fan on the lower front, upper front and middle chamber. This fan configuration really helps in keeping everything in your case cool and the fans are more silent compared to those in other cases. The chassis has also been revised for better cooling capabilities. The drive bays now have air filters and there are front door vents and wider vents on the door frame. Antec's P183 measures 20.25"(H) x 8.1"(W) x 19.9"(D). It is compatible with Mini-ITX, microATX and Standard ATX motherboards and supports a maximum video card size of 15.5" or 394mm. However, the top HD cage becomes unusable when a large video card is installed. You might need to remove it to fit your GPU. No power supply is included with the purchase but you can easily mount Antec's exclusive CP Series power supply or a standard size power supply through the mounting adapter. Also, if you are the type who cares so much about the neatness of your workstation, you might want to know that in order to use the front USB3 ports, you must run the extension cables to the back of the case and plug it into the Mobo I/O shield's USB3 slot. This can look a little messy but this problem is present in nearly all cases as USB3 is not yet fully implemented.

Pros: Large and Roomy, Impressive cable management, cooling and expansion capability, Great visual design
Cons: USB 3.0 socket ends in a plug instead of a header

It's marketed as a mid-tower case, but the Corsair Graphite CC600T Chassis provides serious amount of space that almost rivals the dimensions of some full-tower cases. Standing at 20 inches and measuring 10.4 inches wide and 23.3 inches deep, you can fit larger video cards in a SLI configuration with room to spare for all your other peripherals using eight expansion slots and reconfigurable hard drive caddies for more flexibility. This model puts an emphasis on convenience for system builders, as it counts latched side panels and sliding hard drive trays for tool-less installation, as well as a pre-punched motherboard tray with rubber grommets and taller metal standoffs as its more essential features. It adopts Corsair's Obsidian Series' well-reviewed cable management system, with dedicated cable routing holes running behind the motherboard to decrease clutter. It can carry up to six hard drives, a smaller number considering the size of the case, but it makes up for it by being equally compatible with both 2.5" and 3.5" drives. It has four USB 2.0 ports, and a single USB 3.0 port on the top joined by a FireWire port. While the addition of the USB 3.0 port is a thoughtful nod towards owners of compatible boards, its cord comes with a male USB plug instead of headers, forcing users to route the cable out the case then connect it back to the board just to get it to work. Cooling is a big issue with computer cases. The Graphite 600T tackles this with two 200 mm fans and a 120 mm fan that are, like its expansion slots, reconfigurable. You can even add more fans to keep your system running as cool as possible, as it has an integrated fan controller that supports speed control for up to four fans. The fan controller could be improved upon, though, as it only has two settings - a lower, more quiet setting and a higher but louder one. It has a dust filter at the front, but it's also a good idea to periodically dust the inside of the case. Another thing that sets the Corsair Graphite CC600T apart from other cases is how good it looks despite being minimalist in design. The entire case, including the interior, is coated in matte black paint. We would have liked a window on the side panel for a little more style instead of just being a black box but that's a pretty minor issue, and overall, this case is very well-made.

Pros: Pleasant design, Easy to install, Superior quality, Reasonable price
Cons: No printed manual, Includes only one fan, Heavy

If you want a sturdy yet nicely designed computer case with more than enough room for all your computing needs and you want it for under $100, you need to check out the Antec Sonata Proto System Cabinet. Whether for a primary computer or a back-up computer, this mid-tower case has a great layout and the exterior design is also quite nice. A washable air filter blocks out dust and a side door latch makes the components easy to access and upgrade. There is a 120mm rear TwoCool rear fan and you can also mount an optional 120mm fan in the front fan mount but unlike those found in other models, the supplied fan is only dual-speed and not tri-speed. Antec also didn't include a power supply and a printed manual along with the chassis, just a leaflet. While it is a good way to go green, it consumes more of your time as you need to go online or download a file in order to see the full instructions. The steel construction of this case makes it more robust and provides higher protection for your computer's components. Notwithstanding the fact that it can be a bit heavier compared to standard models, the Antec Sonata Proto is a steal for the price. Two of its superior features are its ability to make your computer silent even without a noise-damping material and its cable routing compartment which permits better cable management inside your chassis. Overall, it is a good foundation for your new system. It comes with a modest price and supports Mini-ITX, microATX and Standard ATX motherboards. Although it is not comparable to higher-priced cases, it passes all the basic requirements and it has tons of space for all your components.
