Review: The Sony Cyber-shot HX10V shoots stills and videos that you can brag about, and manages to carry more features without so much increase in neither thickness nor size. Much like the HX9V, it fits those who have the desire to sport a compact yet dependable camera. It is easy to slip into your pocket and even comes with plenty of extras and bold color choices that make your entire shooting experience fun. The HX10V can be an asset to any traveler and great for everyday-use. It is aimed at users who need the portability of a point-and-shoot and can't afford the expense of a DSLR camera. The Sony G lens and 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor offer high quality images with natural colors and incredible sharpness. A 32x total zoom allows you to obtain beautiful photos, regardless the distance. Shutter speed is screaming fast and dual recording means you can capture both videos and photos simultaneously. Pictures are nothing short of amazing, easily viewable on its 3.0" Xtra Fine LCD display. The HX10V's limited manual controls, however, do not enable you to fully experiment with the camera's controls and abilities. There's also no A-priority or S-priority, but for automatic shooting, it is easy to use, like any other compact camera from Sony. An HDR backlight mode takes two consecutive shots and combines them into a brighter and more beautiful image. A 3D Still Image and a 3D Sweep Panorama mode also widen your horizons and enhance artistic ability. With hundreds of photos stored on your camera, it will be confusing to organize them and remember where each shot was taken. This is where the DSC-HX10V's GPS function comes in. It is very accurate and fast in determining location and it adds that extra detail you need to complete and preserve your memories. A digital compass is also featured. Basically, the Sony Cyber-shot HX10V lets you shoot with even more confidence. A dedicated movie button allows you to take wonderful footage at any moment. Video quality is on par with HD camcorders and the output can be saved in AVCHD format. You can use the zoom function while recording but it is quite noisy. The position of the microphone is another gripe, as it has the tendency to mess up a good recording.
