Pros: Great ergonomics, Works in any surface including glass, Perfect size, Great warranty and customer support
Cons: Pricey, Heavier than most mice, Scroll wheel takes a while to get used to

If you are looking for the perfect portable mouse to take with you, the Logitech MX Anywhere Wireless Laser Mouse should be on your short list. In contrast with standard mice, it represents a breakthrough in cursor and tracking technology by incorporating Logitech's innovative Darkfield Laser Sensor as well as convenient thumb buttons on the side. It allows you to use it even in glass and other glossy surface and you can also program and change the function of each button on your mouse using the downloadable SetPoint Software. While it is not exactly wallet-friendly, it comes with a surprising number of features. For example, the extra attention paid to the ergonomics of the device really pays off in many ways. The size of this wireless laser mouse is just about perfect for most people. With its unifying receiver, you can connect up to six compatible devices and use your other USB ports for more important tasks. The hyper-scrolling feature is nice for browsing through multiple pages. However, some people have noted that it can take a while to get used to but overall, we feel that it is good enough for most applications and uses. Battery life is a little less than similar-sized mice. It also runs off two AA batteries as opposed to the three AAA batteries on most models thus, adding a little extra weight. Suitable for use with Mac OS X 10.4 or later and Windows XP, Vista and even Windows 7, the Logitech MX Anywhere enables you to work or play instantly. A carrying pouch is included with the package and it is also backed by a 3 -year limited hardware warranty and a great customer support - something that is sometimes forgotten with smaller items like mice.

Pros: Rechargeable, Amazing tracking capabilities, Comfortable design, Hyper-fast scroll wheel
Cons: No charging dock, Slightly pricier and bigger, Awkward placement of forward and back buttons, Not for left-handed users

The Logitech Performance Mouse MX corrects a few flaws found on earlier and lower-end models such as poor battery life and limited tracking capabilities. With that said, you can use your mouse while charging and the Darkfield Laser Tracking Technology offers smooth, multi-surface tracking, even on glass desks. You won't need to stock up on batteries or buy a mouse pad and worry if it will work with a particular type of surface. It utilizes a micro-USB cable for charging and a tiny unifying receiver that negates the need to free up USB ports just to connect your other input devices. The hyper-fast scrolling permits easy navigation through multiple documents or web pages while the four customizable thumb buttons allow you to set certain functions via the SetPoint software and launch them with just a single press. As opposed to Logitech's MX Revolution, this mouse is slightly bigger. The forward and back buttons are in an awkward position. Being placed too high, it makes it hard to reach. Moreover, there is no charging dock included with the package and the price is a little overkill. The right-hand shape of the Logitech Performance Mouse MX may also present a problem for left-handed users, as they need to find another mouse that works in left-hand configuration. But if you're right-handed and you don't mind the minor inconveniences then you cannot go wrong with this mouse. It provides wireless control of your computer together with a no-lag operation. The overall design and shape also add comfort and help you work longer. Finally, it is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later and Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Pros: Responsive, Tiny receiver, Requires a single AA battery
Cons: Small side buttons, Signal strength can be a little weak at times, Scroll wheel is too sensitive

The Microsoft Mobile 6000 Wireless Mouse conforms naturally to your hand and has great feafst3tures all around. It runs off a single AA battery and even has an On/Off Switch to save battery power as well as a battery status indicator for easy battery monitoring. Although the tiny transceiver is not unifying like those in comparable models, it is still a nice touch since its size makes it possible to just leave it connected to your computer's USB port. The range and signal strength of this mouse relies on its 2.4-gigahertz wireless technology. However, we must admit that its signal strength is not the best and it can be weak at times but it is quite sufficient if you don't plan on working farther away from your computer. The Device Stage provides all the information you need including settings and product info of your other input devices and the mouse is also embedded with Microsoft BlueTrack Technology. The aforementioned feature lets you work on wood, granite and carpet, in addition to the usual table/desk setting. The mobile 6000 supports major operating systems including Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Mac OS X v10.2–10.5. Windows 7 users can also take advantage of its ability to switch between open windows with just a single click. On the contrary, the Scroll Wheel is too sensitive. It can be a problem when reading long pages as it has the tendency to go down straight to the bottom of the page. Some users also think that the side buttons are sort of gimmicky rather than functional and convenient, especially given the fact that the buttons are too small and its position makes it hard to reach. This wireless mouse may not provide the same convenience found on higher-priced mice but based solely on its performance and price, the Microsoft Mobile 6000 is a good alternative to those who are looking for a stylish and responsive mouse but one that's also affordable.

Pros: Wireless, Paired receiver also works with selected Logitech products simultaneously, Ergonomic design, Batteries included
Cons: Small size may be difficult for users with large hands

In general, wireless mice tend to have lesser responsiveness than wired mice because the tracking signals coming from the mouse has to factor in more variables like distance, position, obstacles and even battery life - issues that wired mice obviously do not share. Judging by its performance though, it looks like the M505 from Logitech has managed to get the standards of wireless mice a step closer to wired mice in terms of usability, thanks to an exceptional combination of intelligent features and well-thought out design. This wireless mouse draws power from a pair of AA batteries that Logitech, in a nice gesture, has included with the package. It is by no means a battery waster though - even with constant use, the mouse runs cells dry in a matter of months, not weeks. A sliding power switch allows the user to turn the unit on and off to save on power as well and a meter on the shell of the mouse permits quick-checking of battery life. As noted, it provides accurate laser tracking that is much more responsive than a conventional wireless mouse. It isn't even picky about which surface users put it on, as long, of course, that it is not highly reflective, like glass. Even slightly angled surfaces can serve as tracking pads and still get the same high precision feedback. The 2.4GHz Bluetooth wireless connection between the mouse and the receiver gives excellent reliability almost at par with that of cords. It is also paired to minimize interference from other devices. Like all wireless input devices, the M505 depends on a signal receiver to relay and translate gestures sent from the mouse to the computer. The receiver bundled with this product is no ordinary one, however. Logitech's Unifying receiver, a tiny USB-based dongle also accepts signals from other selected Logitech input devices with no lag, delay or miscommunication. In effect, this turns a single USB port into a connection point for separate devices and frees up a port for use with other peripherals. Installation is a breeze, as the Unifying Receiver quickly recognizes the presence of the wireless mouse when plugged in and calibrates it for use. Adding other devices merely requires the use of a free utility available on the Logitech website. Because of an emphasis on portability, it is small compared to a full-sized mouse, so a user with larger hands and prefer more substantial mice may want to opt for different models. Nevertheless, Logitech's M505 is a comfortable mouse to use; the back is curved and fits into the user's palm well, the buttons have slight indentations to rest fingers on, the sides have a sort of rubber coating on them and the scroll wheel is crisp and rotates smoothly. The ambidextrous design means that even left-handed people will be able to use it easily. Finally, it comes in three colors (black, red and silver) to suit your tastes.

Pros: Responsive, Easy installation, Uses a small USB dongle and a single AA battery only
Cons: Short battery life, Nano transceiver gets hot

Compact and colorful, the Microsoft Mobile 4000 might just be your ticket to pure wireless freedom. The 2.4-gigahertz wireless technology gives you control over your computer for up to 30 feet away with no delays, and with the small size of the Nano Transceiver, you can just leave it on your laptop's USB port or place it on the dedicated slot under the mouse. Whether you're a student or a businessman, the pastel colors like berry pink, lime green and teal blue as well as the standard colors such as black and white got you covered. The matte finish together with the textured surface provides a more comfortable grip over the standard glossy mice. It also makes it fingerprint-resistant, a nice feature if you're one of the many people who dreads cleaning devices regularly. The excellent tracking ability of this wireless mouse relies on Microsoft's BlueTrack Technology. You won't need a mouse pad as it lets you track anywhere at your own convenience, except on clear glass. The Four Programmable Buttons permit ultimate customization and the Tilt Wheel technology enables smooth and convenient horizontal or even vertical scrolling. Installation is a piece of cake to do. It includes a CD-ROM and only requires 100 MB of free hard disk space on Windows 7, Vista and XP systems and 30 MB on Mac OS X v10.4x–10.5x. Some users reported, though, that the nano transceiver has the tendency to get hot when used for extended hours. Fortunately, the Mobile 4000 is backed by a Three-Year Limited Warranty. It even comes preloaded with an AA battery so you can use it right away. The advertised 10-Month Battery life may be based on minimal usage only, so for everyday use, expect it to last shorter. The mouse has a Battery Status Indicator and it uses a single AA battery only which is easier to find than the AAA batteries on other mice. Simply put, the Microsoft Mobile 4000 is a complete and ready-to-use mouse priced within anyone's reach. It is one of your best options if you're always on the move.
